Our farms

Our Farms
Our buffaloes are like our family, say the Patel brothers. They need to be taken care of like little children. Their happiness is paramount to us. Because, we believe that Happy buffalo gives Happy milk. Image – Buffalo and calf Imtiyaz, the leader in Farm Management at Noble Dairy goes on to add that Happy Milk from Noble Dairy is attributed to the best breed of buffaloes known to dairy business in India. Murrah buffaloes are the best breed of buffaloes for their genetics and overall health. They are disease- resistant and yield is superior, both qualitatively and quantitatively. This breed is available only in India, and farms in Italy, Bulgaria and Brazil have been known to use them to improve the quality of their milk and its production. To live up to the promise of Happy Milk, we source the best breed, give them the best nourishment, provide the best environment.
Free-Stall Barn

Free-Stall Barn

Fully automated parlour for optimum milking, we believe that buffaloes should be left loose, opine the Brothers. It’s called ‘Free Stall Housing System’ in dairy management parlance. It means that the cattle are not reined. They hang-about together in sheds.Large open yards of movement are like a playground for them. No animal is happy if you tie them to a pole or a chain, says Imtiyaz, who leads farm management.

There are tons of enjoyment for buffaloes on our farm – one of their favourite pastimes is hanging bythe yellow brush for their backscratching. They love it so much that they all line up around it and wait for their turn like well-behaved, well- brought up kids.

Milking Parlour

Milking Parlour

The milking parlour at Noble Dairy is one of the most sophisticated buffalo-milking farms in India.Under the guidance of Delaval, a fully automated software-milking system, a 48-cubicle parlour has been constructed to systematize milking and monitoring productivity per animal.

Every buffalo is , bathed to disinfect, where the teats are thoroughly cleaned. They are then and lined up and fed before the milking process. This is the routinely followed ‘as a part of Clean Milk Practice. The hygienic and untouched by human milking system ensure that external bacteria do not contaminate the milk during the milking procedure.

Every buffalo has an RFID tag which acts as one-touch information system about the history of the buffalo, her yield and health. Her nourishment is re-structured based on the reports generated. Adequate treatment is administered in case her health reports show any iota of concern.

Nourishment

Nourishment

In our farm, buffaloes are not left to fend for themselves. Their meals are served. Four times a day, which enables twice-a-day milking.Diet for buffaloes at the Noble Dairy farm is systematically devised. Balanced meals for nutrition, energy and growth as per the lactating stage of the buffalo, are carefully administered.Chana, tur, corn, jawar bran, cotton cakes, mixed with alfalfa and dry paddy grass form the nutrition of the cattle. Each of these are procured from the best producers. Apart from this, we also grow on our farm our own buffalo feed like maize and napier grass.

Apart of the scientifically devised meal plan, we also follow home remedy systems like giving them jaggery, mustard oil and rock-salt. These are excellent for their digestion and overall well-being. It is ensured that buffaloes give healthy milk throughout their lactation cycle and therefore, the nourishment has to be well-balanced round the year as well. In Noble Dairy farms, almost 70% of expenses are towards cattle nourishment, and we make no compromises.

Management

Management

A pivotal part of efficient farm management is its management – a point stressed by DeLaval, a world leader in Dairy Farm Management. Separate sheds for separate activities. Also, separate sheds for different lactating cycles.Young calves, heifers and adult buffaloes are housed separately. Special care-wards for ailing cattle are built at a distance from the healthy sheds. Maternity sheds are divided into two departments of steam-up sheds and calving boxes. The former for those who are ready for delivery and the latter for those in delivery. The sheds are constructed suited to the animal’s natural habitat, with ample sunlight, ventilation and veterinary care.

In fact, we have designed a paddock for their comfort and ease. Each animal has enough standing area, sitting area and also sleeping area so that they do not crowd each other and have enough leg room to move about happily. Each shed is at a distance from one another so that while herding them from one shed to another, the cattle also get sunlight, fresh air and exercise. We have to ensure that our buffaloes are stress-free. Stress hampers their milking output and also the quality of the milk, so we have to give our 200% to ensure they remain happy, says Imtiyaz.
